In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
1. I do swear by the Day of Resurrection.
2. And I do swear by the blaming soul.
3. Does man think that We won’t assemble his bones?
4. Indeed, We are able to reconstitute his fingertips.
5. Yet, man desires to persist in his sinful ways.
6. He questions, “When is Resurrection Day?”
7. But when the sight is dazed.
8. And the moon is eclipsed.
9. And the sun and the moon are merged.
10. On that Day, man will ask, “Where is the escape?”
11. No, there is no refuge.
12. To your Lord, on that Day, will be the settlement.
13. On that Day, man will be informed of everything he put forward, and everything he left behind.
14. Yet man will be a witness against himself.
15. Even as he presents his excuses.
16. Don’t move your tongue hastily with it to recite it.
17. Then it’s upon Us to compile it and recite it.
18. And when We’ve recited it, follow its recitation.
19. Then upon Us is its explanation.
20. Yet, you love the fleeting life.
21. And neglect the Hereafter.
22. Faces on that Day will be radiant.
23. Looking towards their Lord.
24. And, on that Day, faces will be gloomy.
25. Dreading a looming catastrophe.
26. When it has reached the collarbones.
27. And it will be asked, ‘Is there a healer?’
28. Then comes the realization that it’s time to depart.
29. As one leg intertwines with the other.
30. On that Day, the voyage will be towards your Lord.
31. He neither believed nor prayed.
32. Instead, he denied and turned away.
33. Then he returned to his family, full of self-importance.
34. Woe to you, then woe!
35. Then, woe to you, and woe!
36. Does man think he will be left without purpose?
37. Wasn’t he a sperm-drop from emitted semen?
38. Then he became a clinging clot, and He created and formed?
39. And made from it the two sexes, male and female.
40. Isn’t He capable of giving life to the dead?
