Surah Al Haqqah

Quran Chapter 69

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

The Inevitable Reality.

What is the Inevitable Reality?

And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Reality is?

Thamud and Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the Overwhelming.

As for Aad, they were destroyed by a relentless, roaring wind.

He imposed it upon them for seven nights and eight consecutive days. You would see the people lying overthrown, as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

Can you see any remnants of them?

Then came Pharaoh, those before him, and the Overturned Cities, all steeped in sin.

They all disobeyed their Lord’s messenger, and consequently, He seized them with a devastating seizure.

When the waters surged, We carried you in the Cruiser.

That We might make it a lesson for you, and for heedful ears to retain.

Then, when the Trumpet is blown, with a single blast.

And the earth and the mountains are lifted and crushed with a single strike.

Then on that Day, the Great Event will happen.

And the sky will split apart; on that Day, it will be unstable.

And the angels will be on its sides, and that Day eight will bear the Throne of your Lord above them.

On that Day, you will be exposed, not a single secret of yours will be hidden.

As for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here, take my record and read it.

I knew that I would meet my account.”

So, he will be in a life of contentment.

In a high Garden.

Its fruit hanging within reach.

“Eat and drink cheerfully for what you did in the days gone by.”

But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, “I wish I had not been given my record.

And was not aware of my account.

I wish it had been the decisive one!

My wealth didn’t avail me.

My authority has vanished.”

“Seize him, then shackle him.

Then into Hellfire drive him.

Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long.

He used not to believe in God the Magnificent.

Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor.

So he has no friend here today.

And no food except from the wash of wounds.

None but wrongdoers eat of it.”

So I swear by what you see.

And by what you don’t see.

It is the speech of a respectable Messenger.

And it is not the speech of a poet—little do you believe.

Nor the word of a soothsayer—little do you remember.

A revelation from the Lord of the universes.

Had he attributed some statements to Us.

We would’ve seized him by the right hand.

Followed by cutting off his Lifeline.

And none of you could’ve shielded him from Us.

It’s a reminder for the righteous.

We know that some of you will deny it.

It’s a source of regret for the unbelievers.

Yet, it’s the absolute truth.

So, glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Magnificent.
