In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
1. By the scatterers dispersing.
2. And the burden-bearers.
3. And those gliding with ease.
4. And those distributing commands.
5. What you’ve been promised is true.
6. Judgment will take place.
7. By the woven sky.
8. You have conflicting views.
9. From it, the deviators deviate.
10. Perish the falsifiers.
11. Those entangled in confusion and delusion.
12. They ask, “When is Judgment Day?”
13. The Day they will be tried over the Fire.
14. “Taste your ordeal. This is what you sought to expedite.”
15. The righteous will be in gardens and springs.
16. Receiving what their Lord has given them, for they were good doers before that.
17. They hardly slept during the night.
18. And at dawn, they would ask for forgiveness.
19. And in their wealth was a known right for the asker and the deprived.
20. On earth are signs for the convinced.
21. And within yourselves—don’t you see?
22. In the heavens is your sustenance, as promised.
23. By the Lord of heavens and earth: this is as true as your speaking.
24. Did you hear the story of Abraham’s honored guests?
25. They entered upon him and said, “Peace.” He replied, “Peace, strangers.”
26. Then he went to his family and brought a fattened calf.
27. He placed it before them and said, “Will you not eat?”
28. Sensing their discomfort, they reassured him, “Fear not.” And they gave him the good news of a knowledgeable son.
29. His wife approached in astonishment, slapped her face, and said, “A barren old woman?”
30. They responded, “So said your Lord. Indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing.”
31. He asked, “What’s your business, O messengers?”
32. They replied, “We’ve been sent to a guilty people.
33. To unleash upon them stones of clay.
34. Marked by your Lord for the transgressors.”
35. So, we evacuated those of the believers who were there.
36. In it, we found only one household of the submissive.
37. We left in it a sign for those who fear the dreadful punishment.
38. Also, in Moses, We sent him to Pharaoh with apparent authority.
39. But he turned away with his chiefs and said, “A magician or a madman!”
40. So, We seized him and his troops, and We threw them into the sea, and he was to blame.
41. Also, in Aad, when We sent against them the barren wind.
42. It left nothing it came upon but made it like disintegrated ruins.
43. And in Thamud, when they were told, “Enjoy yourselves for a while.”
44. They defied their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them while they looked on.
45. They were unable to rise, nor could they defend themselves.
46. And the people of Noah before them. They were a sinful people.
47. We built the universe with power, and We are expanding it.
48. And We spread the earth; how excellent are We as spreaders!
49. Of all things, we created pairs, so you may reflect.
50. “So flee towards God. I am to you from Him a clear warner.”
51. “And don’t set up any other deity with God. I am to you from Him a clear warner.”
52. Likewise, no messenger came to those before them, but they said, “A magician, or a madman.”
53. Did they pass it down among themselves? They are defiant people.
54. So, distance yourself from them; you are not to blame.
55. And remind, for the reminder benefits the believers.
56. I didn’t create jinn and humans except to worship Me.
57. I don’t need their provision, nor do I need them to feed Me.
58. God is the Provider, the Possessor of Power, and the Firm.
59. Those who do wrong will meet the same fate as their predecessors, so let them not hasten Me.
60. So woe to those who disbelieve, for they will meet their promised Day.
